Helicoper in action with more medivacs

An injured walker was flown to Clickimin landing site from a “remote coastal path” near Scalloway yesterday before being taken to Gilbert Bain Hospital.

A Shetland Coastguard spokesman said that coastguards had been alerted by police who had received a call from the female walker about 1.50pm. Coastguard helicopter 102 was tasked to pick up the woman and West Burra Isle coastguard team and the Shetland sector manager were in assistance. The helicopter landed with the casualty at 3.30pm and was met by an ambulance.

Later the same helicopter was tasked to pick up a man from the 7 Discovery installation 92 nautical miles from Lerwick after coastguards sought medical advice.

The call from the installation came in at 2.55pm and the helicopter landed at Clickimin around 5pm where the patient was taken by ambulance to the Gilbert Bain Hospital.
