International champion sailor Barney Harris from the USA took the honours in the weekend’s Scottish and European Championships, staged at Burravoe in Yell.

He teamed up with local boat owner Douglas Leask to take Blue Mist to first place in both competitions.

The event, sponsored by BP Sullom Voe and NorthLink, was hosted by the South Yell Boating Club.

Five boats travelled up from Scotland and England along with three visiting skippers who sailed local boats along with the local fleet.

The furthest travelled were Harris from Washington DC and the National Albacore Association chairman Mike Banner.
