Hundreds turned out for the annual charity Midsummer Carnival in Lerwick on a cold but thankfully dry evening on Saturday.

Crowds watched a variety of floats, including one with a World Cup theme and another with an impressive Egyptian pyramid and queen on top.

The Lerwick Guizer Jarl’s Squad were as usual in attendance, along with numerous foot collectors and the carnival princess and attendants.

The onlookers included many of the visitors to this year’s Simmer Dim bikers’ rally and some bemused gas plant workers arriving off their transport buses.
