Van and car involved in Lerwick crash

A man had to be cut free from a van following a crash in Lerwick this afternoon.

Fire crews from Lerwick and Scalloway rushed to the scene at Sound Brae following the collision between the van and a car.

The crash happened shortly before 4pm. Fire appliances from Lerwick and Scalloway attended the scene.

The man was taken to the Gilbert Bain Hospital for treatment, but his injuries were not believed to be serious. Two casualties from the car were attended to by an ambulance crew.

The road was closed to allow emergency services to carry out their duties.
