Accused of assaulting police officers

A man has been remanded in custody after being accused of assaulting police officers and struggling violently with them.

Paul Bonner, 35, of Park Road, Dunoon, denied carrying out the offences on Sunday at the Hill Lane car park in the town.

The pipe-fitter appeared from custody on Monday before sheriff Philip Mann at Lerwick Sheriff Court.

He also pleaded not guilty to taking a car without its owner’s consent from Hogalee in Scalloway, and driving with no licence, insurance or MOT.

Trial was set at 11th June, with an intermediate diet of 27th May. Bail was refused.
