Former fishing skipper charged with driving offences

A former fishing skipper charged with driving offences appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court today and had his case continued without plea.

John Peter Duncan, 67, of Bona Vista, Ollaberry, was charged with driving without due care and attention and without reasonable consideration for others on Thursday on the A970 in Brae and then between Brae and Voe, and weaving back and forth on the carriageway.

He was further charged with refusing to co-operate in a breath test on the A970, and failing to provide two specimens of breath at Lerwick Police Station, all on the same date.

Honorary sheriff Sandy Cluness released him on bail with the special condition he was not to drive or be in charge of a motor vehicle. Duncan will be back in court on 28th October.
