Commercial Street closures

Parts of Commercial Street will be closed this week to allow Scottish Water engineers to carry out repairs.
From today until Friday the road will be blocked outside the Fat Little Pony shop at 84 Commercial Street. It is to allow repairs to leaking valves known as tobies.

A second closure will come into place on Wednesday, until Tuesday 24th November, at 12 and 14 Commercial Street, again for repairs to tobies.

Scottish Water says the work is being done “before [the] festive shopping season” and to avoid the risk to pedestrians of any leaks freezing.

Shetland Islands Council will carry out the reinstatement work, in keeping with the requirements of the conservation area, once the digging and repairs are completed

Alternative access is available as advertised in last week’s Shetland Times.
