Generous sum raised (Donald S Murray)

On behalf of Pauline Williamson, Greg McCarron, Marie Williamson and all who helped and assisted at the “Migrants: A Shetland Response” event at the Baptist Church in Lerwick on Friday night, I would like to thank everyone who attended for the generous sum of money that was raised.

The total of £667 has been donated to the Scottish Refugee Council, the organisation responsible for coordinating a series of varied events relating to this theme throughout Scotland over much of this month.

In particular, we would like to thank the following – Mary Blance, Mike Grundon, Jack Goodlad, Allan MacKay, James Sinclair, Donald Anderson, Dave Hammond, Gillian Williamson, Christina Sinclair, Clive, Trevor and Aubrey Jamieson and so many others – who gave so freely of their talents over a number of weeks.

Their presence and support provided great encouragement for us. We were delighted so many, too, turned up on the night. Each and everyone of you played your part.

Finally, I would like to thank the many who suggested we might hold this event again sometime in the future. We are alive to the possibility.
