Man admits grabbing woman’s throat

A man has been remanded in custody after assaulting his former partner and breaching a non-harassment order.

Darren Robertson admitted grabbing the woman by the throat, pushing her and presenting a knife at her at an address in Yell on 15th May.

The 48-year-old, of Clingra Park, Camb, Mid Yell, was originally granted bail when he first appeared in the dock.

But he failed to comply with an order not to contact her on 19th and 24th May.

As a result, he found himself back in court. On being allowed his liberty again, he approached the woman at the factory where they both worked on 1st and 21st June.

Sentence was deferred for background reports when Robertson appeared in court again today.

Bail was opposed by procurator fiscal Duncan MacKenzie.

Robertson will appear in court again on 3rd August.
