Rough seas likely to delay ferry sailing

Today’s southbound sailing of the Hrossey faces delays because of anticipated strong winds and rough seas.

NorthLink Ferries has announced that due to the forecast “arrival in Aberdeen may be subject to delays”. She is scheduled to depart Lerwick at 7pm

Tomorrow’s sailings, inlcluding the freight boat Helliar‘s scheduled trip south, also face disruption.

A yellow “be aware” wind warning has been issued by the Met Office for Orkney and Shetland with gusts of up to 65mph possible. The “Fair Isle” shipping forecast area is expected to experience very rough or high seas, with winds touching storm force at times.

NorthLink expects to make more announcements tomorrow.
