Crabber Edward Henry escorted to Scalloway after wave causes power loss

A 25-metre crab vessel was escorted into Scalloway on Tuesday morning by the Aith lifeboat after she was struck by heavy seas and lost power around 8pm on Monday night.

Coastguards said that The Dartmouth registered Edward Henry, with eight of a crew, lost power when her wheelhouse was flooded 40 nautical miles west of Sumburgh. The vessel later regained power and made port under her own steam.

The Aith lifeboat was dispatched, but the first vessel on the scene was the anchor handling ship Nor Solan which stood by and then escorted the crabber most of the way to Scalloway where she arrived at 7.15am accompanied by the lifeboat.
