Fog grounds air traffic at Sumburgh

Fog has disrupted flights to and from Sumburgh airport today, with three flights scheduled for departure and three arrivals before mid-day delayed.
A further two aircraft managed to land and take off before 9am. Everything since has been fogbound.
A press release from Loganair, which operates Flybe’s service to and from Shetland, said that due to low fog, planes are unable to get in or out of Sumburgh Airport. The situation was being continually monitored and flights will resume as soon as conditions improve.
Loganair outlined a series of “special” measures for customers due to the adverse weather conditions, including options for passengers.
According to Loganair if passengers are unable to travel owing to adverse weather they can rebook for travel within the next seven days at no charge subject to seats being available for their chosen destination. They can also rebook for travel at any future date but seats must be available at the same fare level as has originally beenpaid.
If their flight has been cancelled they have the added option of rebooking for travel on an alternative flight to their destination at the earliest available opportunity.
Information on the status of all Loganair Shetland flights can be found using the live flight arrivals and departures page on www.loganair.co.uk
