Selection course for police recruits

Potential police officers are being encouraged to attend a selection course in Inverness which has been rolled into three consecutive days to suit isles candidates.
The event is billed by the police as “a unique opportunity for applicants, primarily who live in the Highland and Islands to undertake the main components of the selection process over three days rather than attending the mainland on separate occasion.”
Shetland police chief Inspector Lindsay Tulloch is holding a preparatory meeting for candidates at Lerwick Police Station on Thursday at 7pm.
Mr Tulloch said: “The role of a police officer is a challenging but hugely rewarding career. Policing is not just a varied job and a worthwhile career but a fantastic opportunity to help be part of keeping the community you live and work in a safe place to live.”
“I am keen to support any prospective candidates from Shetland to take part in this recruitment process which is unique given the process has been condensed over a three day period.”
The selection event from Tuesday 30th June to Thursday 2nd July at Divisional Headquarters is part of Police Scotland’s ongoing recruitment campaign for police officers.
Candidates who pass the selection event will then have to undertake a medical and vetting checks. Recruits will then recieve twelve weeks initial training and enter a two year probationary period before being confirmed in the rank of Constable.
