He said it was great to see so many people out on their bikes.

“We live out in Quarff so we don’t have areas especially where the kids can get going.

With sunglasses weather continuing into the afternoon, cyclists and music lovers alike enjoyed a gig in the Jubilee Flower Park.

The music amongst the marigolds was a real treat, with the South Mainland Young Fiddlers kicking things off with a lively and varied set of tunes.

Young fiddler Fraser Tait played a delightful collection of reels and a moving slow aire Time for Thought.

Arthur Nicholson followed with a collection of well-crafted, self penned songs.

He did his best to keep the clouds away with a full-bodied rendition of The Beach Boys’ God only Knows.

Maggie Adamson and Brian Nicholson played a mixture of traditional tunes and lighter numbers including I wanna be like You from the Jungle Book.

Tasty scones and teas were on offer and Lisa Ward and friends served up a helping of rock to finish off the afternoon.
