Evening services

The Walls Methodists are holding a monthly evening service on the second Sunday of every month.

The inter-demonational services, organised mainly by the young folk from the church and co-ordinated by Chris Jackson, are said to have been well attended so far with people from all over the West Side.

On the afternoon of Sunday, 13th December the Women’s Guild in Skerries organised what they call their Big Christmas Sing.

The event was held as part of a nationwide incentive by Christian Aid to encourage people all across the UK to get together and sing and in doing so raise money for the charity.

Life of Christ

Rehearsals are underway in Sandwick for the telling of the Easter story in song.

Palm Sunday will see The Life of Christ take centre stage at the Church of Scotland from 7.30pm.

The story of the crucifixion and ascension is being told by Elma Johnson, who will provide narration in between Easter hymns and stories.

The church will be decorated with posters and pictures to help reinforce the message.

Visitors will also be offered tea and Easter home-bakes.

Donations will also be made to the Sandwick Church Fabric Fund and Sandwick Guild.

Christian Connection

The future of a long-running fellowship group is hanging in the balance after its leader announced she was standing down from the post.

Christian Connection – formerly known as the Inter-Church Fellowship until a change of name two years ago – is at risk of disappearing altogether when Liz McNab steps down as planned.

The assistant priest at St Magnus Church has remained at the group’s helm for 20 years, despite only agreeing to run it for two years when she took over the role in 1989.
