The Anderson High School’s net­ball team were left devastated this week after being forced to forfeit their place in the semi-finals of the Scottish Schools Cup because they were unable to travel south to play Robert Gordon College A.

Loungers made sure of the netball first division title with a 30-24 win over AHS last week, while Wastside defeated Supernova and Team Rowley got the points against AHS to secure second place. In the final second division match Ness beat Scalloway Juniors.

Team Rowley kept in touch with Loungers at the top of the netball first division with a hard-fought win over Whalsay while AHS defeated Supernova and Kinetics got the points against Unst. In the second division match leaders Mishaps comfortably saw off bottom-placed Scalloway Juniors.

Team Rowley kept up the pressure on Whalsay in the battle for second spot in netball’s first division with a win over Wastside. With Kinetics, Challengers and Unst unable to field teams, full points also went to Whalsay, Supernova and AHS.

Strong Shetland triumph in senior netball inter-county match

Shetland won the A match of the 29th annual senior netball inter-county on Saturday, defeating Orkney 43-29. Shetland also picked up the B team trophy as Orkney were unable to field a team, with the home B team losing out 37-30 in a friendly against the Orkney A team.
