Click here for full story...The 25th Shetland Ladies Squash Open consisted of a fast-paced, 10-match round robin, which saw only the third name on the trophy and the youngest ever winner“ Hannah Garrick.
The first match saw number one seed Belle Spence play number five seed Leanne Jamieson. After a tight start Belle won serve at 2-1, adjusting well to Leanne’s stronger style of play to race away to an 8-1 lead. Leanne saved the game point but was unable to save the game as it finished 9-2. Belle had then found a style of play that suited her and raced away to win …

In the boys’ under-15s, under-19s and girls’ under-19s it was a story of retained titles with Lorne McNiven, Hannah Garrick and David Thomson playing some excellent squash, although they did have to work very hard for their victories with each final going to four sets.
The runners up Patrick Nicol, Lauren Hogg and Calvin Leask took early leads and played a high level of squash but were unable to sustain it.

In the under-13 Christmas handicap competition Stuart Copland came out the winner, scoring 202 points in total. Stuart and Josie Wishart had the closest games of the tournament with only one point difference between them in their match with the final score 44-43.
Josie finished second with a total of 193 points while Craig Smith scored highly in every game he played, giving him 175 points.
The rest of the field were grouped within 16 points and all put in good performances to score over 100 each: Cameron Garrick 156; …
Click here for full story...SHETLAND squash player Jamie Macaulay has been chosen in the team to represent Scotland at the forthcoming World Doubles Championships in Chennai, India, from 15th to 19th December.
Macaulay is joined by players from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Inverness, Irvine and Montrose. He will be playing in the men’s doubles with Stuart Crawford from Irvine.
The squad will be accompanied by coaches Roger Flynn (Scottish Squash national coach) and Paul Frank (Scottish Squash national performance director) and managed by Linda Davie.
Frank said: “The World Doubles Championships are a crucial step on our path towards the 2010 Commonwealth Games.”…
