Easter Sunday event held in Gulberwick hall on 8th April, raised £1408.59, all proceeds will be split equally among COPE Ltd, Disability Shetland and Moving On Employment Project. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at LHD, associated companies, friends, family and acquaintances for the beautiful gifts and cards received on my recent retirement. The party on Friday night, was brilliant, a great night. I am overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity and will miss you all. Thank you.

Disability Shetland would like to thank Flybe, Cullivoe Dance Band, Gulberwick Public Hall, Disability Shetland Trustees and all staff for their help and support at the very successful Traditional Shetland Dance Night held in Gulberwick Public Hall, on the 14th April, 2012. Thanks also to the following businesses and people who donated prizes for the raffl e – Healthcraft, Rangers FC, Plantiecrub, Laings Chemist, Anderson and Company, The Shetland Times, Dundee FC, The Peerie Shop, Health and Beauty, Shetland Fudge Company, Celtic FC, Co-op, Pearl Johnson, Globe Butchers, Vidlin Pottery, Joyce Henderson, Allison Duncan, Jonathan Wills and Leonard Groat. Special thanks goes to all who attended, Disability Shetland volunteers and family volunteers. The event raised £1478.00, which will be used for the Children and Young Person’s Project, the Recreation Project and Access Project.

Would like to thank the family of the late John Quirk, Parklea, Bigton, and all those who made their generous gifts to the Mission in his memory. Their donation of £278.52 has been received with grateful thanks.

Steve and Dawn would like to thank friends and family for the kind gifts, cards and good wishes received on the birth of Lexi Ayanne. Special thanks to all staff at the Gilbert Bain, Aberdeen Maternity Hospital and Neonatal Unit for their excellent care of Dawn and Lexi throughout. Huge hugs and kisses to Mam and Dad Stewart for their love and support and for looking after Charlie so well!

Following my recent operations and stays in Ward 1 Gilbert Bain Hospital, I would like to sincerely thank all staff involved in my care, it couldn’t have been better. Special thanks to Mr. Mikolajczak, Alison Gaffney (Macmillan Nurse), Leona Newcombe, all doctors, Ward 1 nurses, district nurses, day hospital and out patients staff. I have been overwhelmed with the amount of cards and messages received over the last few months, many thanks to all concerned. A big thanks to all the family for the help and support, and a big hug for Arlene xx.

I wish to thank my colleagues from the North Haven Care Centre for the splendid retirement dinner that they treated Stan and myself to on Saturday night at the Breiwick Café. Thanks also to everyone for the very generous gifts, not forgetting the toaster! Stan and I really enjoyed Margaret’s speech, especially the poem. We will take you up on the invitation to cuppas now and then. Thanks to friends and family for their cards and good wishes. Finally, thanks for being a fantastic, friendly and caring team of people, it has been an honour and a pleasure to work with you.
