A LORRY driver escaped injury on Monday morning when his truck cab caught fire on the A970 near Tingwall.
Police said the front of the Shetland Transport lorry was badly damaged by the blaze, which happened at around 10am.
The road was closed between the Gott/Veensgarth crossroads and the Herrislea junction to allow the lorry to be recovered.
The town centre was a hive of activity this afternoon with Living Lerwick’s street parade the centre of attraction.
