Thrills and spills in store with the Miami ride

WITH the nights drawing in and winter approaching, the ever popular Codonas funfair is returning to Shetland – with several new rides and a beefed-up food outlet.

With rides and games, a bouncy castle and a catering outlet the operators believe there will be something for everyone.

Back this year is teenage favourite the Waltzers. This well known ride is suitable for all ages, with each car able to spin individually and as fast as the passenger wants.

For the more adventurous there is the Miami, a new ride for Shetland having never visited before. This is suitable for teenagers and above, and consists of 16 seats suspended in a row which move and shake around and can drop from a thrilling height.

Another ride new to Shetland is the Twister, which is suitable for both adults and children, something owner Jensen Codona said makes this ride very appealing. “We’ve had this ride for two years and it is one of our most popular,” he said.

For youngsters under eight there will be a roundabout ride with cars and aeroplanes, and in the event of rain there is a covered bouncy castle and skill games in the arcade.

No fun fair would be complete without sweets and fast food, however this year Codonas claim to be providing “more than just a burger bar”. At the steak bar you will find real steak burgers and chips as well as other snacks.

Codonas are planning to be up in Shetland for around three weeks, weather dependent, and hope to see the usual good turnout. Mr Codona said: “We’re well excited to be coming up again, it’s something different for Shetland. We hope to see you all there having fun.”

The fun fair opens at 6.30pm from Thursday 2nd October at North Ness, Lerwick.
