Swimmers chosen for North District

TWO young Lerwick swimmers have been selected to represent Scotland’s North District at the national inter-county championships at Ponds Forge in Sheffield on Sunday 19th October.

Andrea Strachan, 16, and Craig Nicolson, 13, are in the team of 24 swimmers aged between 12 and 17 years who will travel to Sheffield for the event. The team consists of four male and four female swimmers in each of the three age-groups. The event consists of 100m swims as well as medley team relays and a 6x50m freestyle relay.

The inter-county championships is a prestigious short course event which involves most of the regions of England, Wales and Scotland coming together to compete against each other. This is a fantastic opportunity for Andrea and Craig to see some excellent swimming, improve on their personal times, and to enjoy spending time with and competing against some of the best swimmers from all over the country.

Amy Harper, 16, from Gulberwick, was also selected for the team. However, unfortunately she is unable to compete due to prior arrangements.
