CLAN hits amazing £80,000

THE Shetland CLAN 1,2,3 appeal now stands at nearly £80,000 and continues to surpass the organisers’ expectations.

Representatives from CLAN House in Aberdeen have been delighted with the response and are now in Shetland. They are holding an informal drop-in session at Islesburgh this afternoon for anyone who has used CLAN or is interested in finding out more about the cancer centre in Aberdeen. Chairwoman of the Shetland CLAN 1,2,3 appeal Elaine Jamieson said: “We are so grateful to the Shetland community for their support.”

CLAN Christmas cards are now on sale at the CLAN shop in the Toll Clock Shopping Centre, and although there will not be a Shetland CLAN calendar just yet, plans are afoot for one in 2010.

A number of high-profile events are planned for early in the new year. Dates so far confirmed include a Gala Concert in Clickimin on 21st February, Strictly CLAN Dancing on 4th April and the grand finale dance on 4th July to mark the end of the charity appeal.

Although the Shetland part of the CLAN 1,2,3 appeal will finish next summer, the fundraising for the charity to raise £3million in two years will go on.

Any individuals or groups planning fundraising events should contact any of the committee members, details on the website www.shetlandclanappeal.org.uk
