Music sessions start up again

SHETLAND Arts has announced the recommencement of the Family Traditional Music Sessions.

The sessions, held in different venues, are open to people of all ages and playing levels and those who just want to listen.

Music development officer Bryan Peterson said: “The family sessions have proved to be very popular, with folk of all ages, from young families with toddlers to the more senior of citizens, getting together to enjoy an evening of playing and listening to traditional music.

“Some of Shetland’s finest musicians, including Brian Gear, Linda Irvine and Ryan Couper will be on hand to lead the sessions. But don’t worry if you’re a beginner, or aren’t too confident playing in front of folk.”

The sessions are at: South Nesting Hall on Monday, 10th November and 8th December, 7-9pm; Sandwick Youth Centre on Wednesday 12th November and 10th December, 7-9pm; Brae Boating Club on Wednesday, 12th November and 10th December, 7-9pm; Isbister Hall, Whalsay on Friday, 14th November, 7pm until late; Lounge Bar, Lerwick on Tuesday, 9th December, 7-9.30pm; Cullivoe Hall, Yell on Friday, 12th December, 7pm till late.
