Undefeated Big Shots and Bressay Light inflict heavy punishment

THE WEEKEND’S cricket action saw big wins for Big Shots and Bressay Light over Emergency Services and Lerwick A respectively.

Emergency S 77 for 5
Big Shots 78 for 1

The Services innings got off to a dreadful start, losing a wicket in the first over, and Dylan Murphy was the only batsmen to reach double figures with 20.

The best bowler for Big Shots was Paul Nicol who took two for 15 and with the help of 33 extras Services reached 77 for five.

Big Shots started their innings by losing an early wicket with Guy Nightingale being bowled by Dylan Murphy for just seven. But John Gray and David Nicol soon had the innings back on track with David retiring on 25 not out.

With the help of some wayward Services bowling Big Shots reached their required total in just seven overs.

Bressay Light 128 for 2
Lerwick A 70 for 2

Bressay Light batted first but lost an early wicket with Michael Boxwell being run out for eight. With some aggressive batting by Steven Morgan and Greg Burgess the score soon rattled along and they retired on 29 and 36 not out respectively. Stuart Fox hit a quickfire 21 not out to help the score to 128 for two from 12 overs.

Lerwick A got off to quite a slow start with Bressay Light bowling accurately. Kevin Valente was the only batsmen to give the bowlers trouble with a fine 28 not out and the remaining batsmen could only reach 70 for two from 12 overs.

The player of the week was Greg Burgess of Bressay Light for his fine innings of 36 not out.
