Choral Christmas story

MUSIC lovers will be treated to a celebration of Christmas next Friday by the Shetland Choral Society, conducted by Nigel Hayward.

Accompanied by a group of local musicians, the choir will perform The Christmas Story by Schutz. James Geer will be returning to Shetland to perform the part of the evangelist, alongside soloists from within the choir.

The choir will also be singing, in Russian, excerpts from Rachmaninov’s All Night Vigil. Shorter carols, including some new arrangements by Mr Hayward, will complete the programme. Throughout the evening the audience will be encouraged to join in song with community carols.

The concert begins at 7.30pm in St Columba’s Church.
