Dance and drama

SHETLAND Arts has a varied dance and drama programme this winter, with many opportunities for people to get involved.

During January Stellar Quines and Perissology Theatre Companies will be rehearsing their new production called Baby Baby. They are going to mentor eight volunteers in various theatre disciplines which will provide a chance to learn directly from respected Scottish Theatre professionals and be part of their creative team.

A preview is on Friday 30th January at 7.30pm, with public performances on Sunday 31st January and Monday 2nd February, also at 7.30pm. There is also a schools show on Monday 2nd February at 10.30am.

Shetland Arts, in partnership with the SIC’s creative links department, is bringing professional dance artist Lisa Sinclair to Shetland for a three-month residency next year.

She will be delivering workshops in the community and in schools all over Shetland and for all age groups. If anyone aged 17-25 is interested in learning and developing dance skills and wishes to be involved they can contact jacqui.clark@shetlandrts.org or noelle.henderson@shetland.gov.uk Gilmore Productions will be bringing The Blank Album to the Garrison Theatre in February.

Finally, in March Shetland Youth Theatre and YUF (Yell, Unst and Fetlar) are joining forces to mount a production of a brand new show, Blackout. The production will start rehearsing (in both Lerwick and Yell) in January and will be staged at the end of March.
