A man was taken to hospital after being assaulted on Commercial Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The 40-year-old was attacked near Osla’s Cafe at around 2am and was taken to the Gilbert Bain Hospital where he remained overnight, although he did not sustain any serious injuries.
Police said there were a number of people in the area who may have witnessed the assault and are urging them to come forward.
The town centre was a hive of activity this afternoon with Living Lerwick’s street parade the centre of attraction.
