Altaire skipper in court

Appearing charged with drink driving, resisting arrest and failing to provide a breath test, the skipper of one of the country’s largest fishing boats had his case continued without plea at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Monday.

John Peter Duncan, 61, of Bonavista, Ollaberry, who skippers the Altaire, was charged over an incident on the A970 road at the Windy Grind, Veensgarth, on Friday.

It was alleged that he had resisted, obstructed, hindered and struggled with two police officers and failed to provide specimen tests both at the scene and later at Lerwick Police Station.

Sheriff Graeme Napier agreed for the case to be continued until 25th February so that Duncan can consult his solicitors and granted him bail on the condition that he does not drive in the meantime.
