Papa painters learn a lot from Paul

Papa Stour Primary School was the venue for an art weekend led by artist Paul Bloomer from Bigton, sponsored by Adult Learning and at the invitation of the Papa Stour Rehab Centre.

One of those who took part was Jane Puckey, who said: “Last Friday evening Paul led us through various types of art work from the 13th century to contemporary in a most stimulating slide show; teaching us how to look at perspective, colour, shade, shape and picture composition.

“On Saturday we were hard at work using charcoal. During the day three distinct types of drawings were accomplished – still life, outdoor landscape and then an imaginative drawing.

At the finish of each session Paul gave a critique of our work. In the evening he showed us some of his own work in another power point presentation and on Sunday we were let loose with paint and paint brushes.”

She said the weekend had enthused and stimulated everyone in the joys of drawing and painting and everyone was grateful to Paul for his time.
