Anglers too quick off mark

A number of anglers turned up on Saturday for the Shetland Anglers Association spinning competition for the Cee & Jays Trophy.

Unfortunately they did not arrve at the same time, a mix up with the starting time meaning a number of anglers being early for the check-in.

As the majority had been fishing for a couple of hours prior to the official start time, it was decided in the interest of fairness to reschedule the competition. It will now be held on Saturday, 27th June, with a 10am check-in at Mavis Grind. A spokesman said he wished to apologise to all concerned.

The next spinning league competition is for the Excursion Trophy, a “go as you please” in Yell on Saturday, 30th of May, with the check-in 10am at the Ulsta Ferry Terminal. This is a fly or spinning trophy and as the most recent winners are stalwarts of the not so gentle art of spinning, a good turnout of fly fishers would be appreciated.
