Yell date for top DJ

One of Scotland’s most legendary dance music figures makes a return trip to Shetland later this month for a one-off show in Yell.

DJ and MC Mallorca Lee will play Mid Yell Hall on Saturday, 30th May.

Mallorca Lee (not a stage name) has been a mainstay of the Scottish dance scene for the best part of 20 years now, first with influential ravers Ultrasonic and then with live hard-house act Public Domain, with whom he provided the vocal for their smash hit Operation Blade.

Since leaving Public Domain he has enjoyed huge success as a DJ and plays regularly all over the world as well as having a monthly residency in London.

The highlight of Mallorca Lee’s calendar this summer will be supporting the world’s number one DJ, Tiesto, at his SECC gig on July 18th.

He has also recently started his own label MLXL, on which he has releases two solo singles, Dogma and Tribal Gathering, while his debut album will also be released on the label later in 2009.

Support for the Mid Yell gig, which is strictly for over-16s, comes from local DJ mavericks Elwyn & Muzzy.

Tickets are on sale at £10 from High Level Music in Lerwick and the Ulsta Shop in Yell.

There will be a bus in Yell meeting the 8.15pm ferry from Toft and returning to the 2am ferry at Ulsta. Booking is essential by calling (01957) 744214 for the bus and (01957) 722259 for the ferry.
