Lerwick Celtic footballers to hold old boys’ reunion

The former players of Lerwick Celtic Football Club, who played during the era when the club was managed by Charlie Moar, are having a one-off reunion on Friday night in Islesburgh Community Centre.

Charlie first managed the Celtic junior team in 1950 and eventually ran both junior and senior teams up until the mid-1960s.

Charlie and wife Freda’s house in Gladstone Terrace and their music shop in Harbour Street were great meeting places for the Celtic boys throughout that time.

About 50 former players have signed on for the event with several coming up from Scotland and England.

Many of the company will not have met each other since their playing days so a big evening of reminiscences is anticipated.
