MP seeks to challenge Hillswick Post Office plan

Isles MP Alistair Carmichael has written to every Hillswick resident enclosing a copy of his “Local Post Office Questionnaire” regarding the recently-announced proposals for a limited service in Hillswick.

He was keen to make the strongest possible case for constituents regarding a better level of service when he engages with the Post Office in the upcoming weeks.

Mr Carmichael said: “It would appear that whatever provision is to be made for the Post Office in Hillswick it will be a less than full time service.

“I am determined that in this event it will be a service that best meets the needs of local people. A good response to my questionnaire will lend greater authority to the submissions that I make in response to the Post Office consultation.

“Once the service is back in place it will of course be for local people to demonstrate that they value it which can only be done by using it.”

Mr Carmichael is also encouraging interested parties to make their views known to the Post Office National Consultation Team at PO Box 2060, Watford, WD18 8ZW. The consultation deadline is 8th July.
