Jockeys saddle up for Aberdeen riding show

Five Shetland jockeys and ponies competed at the recent Aberdeen District Summer Show at Fountain Equestrian Centre in Aberdeen­shire. All the combinations went well and achieved good results. Arianne Fraser and veteran Clothie Uriebell won the M&M small open ridden to qualify for the NPS Scotland/Baileys Horse Feeds open ridden mountain & moorland championship at Blair Castle Inter­national Horse Trials in August.

Starter mountain & moorland working hunter: 1 Arianne Fraser & Kinkell Elevator; 3 Bronagh Good­lad & Clothie FLyn; 4 Kira Fraser & Clothie Humbell.

Novice mountain & moorland working hunter: 3 Arianne Fraser & Clothie Uriebell; 5 Bronagh Goodlad & Clothie Flyn.

Young handlers 12-16 years: 1 Arianne Fraser & Clothie Uriebell; 4 Bronagh Goodlad & Clothie Flyn; 5 Kira Fraser & Clothie Humbell.

Young handler champion: Arian­ne Fraser & Clothie Uriebell Mountain & moorland & part bred lead rein: 4 Melody Goodlad & Clothie Flyn; 5 Rebecca Fraser & HRE Aladdin.

Mountain & moorland small open ridden: 1 Arianne Fraser & Clothie Uriebell; 6 Bronagh Good­lad & Clothie Flyn; 8 Kira Fraser & HRE Aladdin.

Mountain & moorland novice ridden: 4 Arianne Fraser & Kinkell Elevator; 5 Kira Fraser & Clothie Humbell.

A spokeswoman thanked the Clothie Shetland Pony Stud for the hospitality and NorthLink Ferries for the continued support and understanding when roadworks made for a tight arrival at the terminal.

Indoor jumping action

Shetland Riding Club’s summer jumping league was held at the indoor riding venue at Girlsta on Friday with nine horses attending and a total of 23 rounds ridden.

Results – open: Amanda Slater and Erin 12; Alison Bulley and Lara 10.

Intermediate senior: Kaye Hunt­er and Troy 12.

Intermediate junior: Jade Steven­son and Rhanna 12; Lori Bulter and Sonic 10.

Novice senior: Alison Bulley and Breeze 12, Catriona Cree-Hay and Anton 10; Clare Williamson and Barney 8.

Novice junior: Karis Stevenson and Ingo 12; Amanda Slater and Isla 10.

Minimus senior: Annette Shewan and Isla 12.

Tonight will be the last jump league for the summer and riders will be competing for double points. All competitors and spectators are welcome.

Shetland Riding Club’s next events include a final club night on Thursday 25th June (none during July and August) and a visit from horse listener and healer Isobel Hogton from 7th to 10th July.
