Three drivers over age of 45 arrested for being over the limit

Three drivers were arrested for allegedly being over the alcohol limit at the weekend. The first, early on Friday night in Unst, was a 51-year-old man stopped in the Hillend area. Police said enquiries were continuing.

Meanwhile at 11pm on Friday a 45-year-old man was caught in Lerwick town centre. A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.

And at the same time on Saturday night a 54-year-old woman was stopped in Whiteness. A report has also been sent to the procurator fiscal in this case.

Police also reported several public order offences at the weekend. In the early hours of Saturday morning damage was caused to the front door of an address in Lerwick town centre. In a separate incident a 24-year-old man was assaulted in the town centre. A spokesman said that in both cases positive lines of enquiry were being followed.

A 21-year-old woman was assaulted in the town centre, also early on Saturday morning. Police said enquiries were continuing.

Meanwhile in the early hours of Sunday a 26-year-old man was arrested after a domestic incident in Lerwick town centre. A report is to be sent to the procurator fiscal.
