New Revolution go crazy as hockey players move inside

Saturday saw the start of the indoor hockey season with some strong, end-to-end play right from the outset.

New Revolution 5, Reckless 0

New Revolution started strongly with early goals from Kristan Robertson and Stacey Laurenson putting them 2-0 up.

Joyce Adamson and Sarah Grogan worked hard in the Reckless midfield to get something back but found debut goalkeeper Danny Finnie in fine form with some excellent saves. Paul Nicol extended New Revolution’s lead with a well-taken goal just before half time.

The second half started again with the New Revolution dominating play, resulting in a well-worked move which Kate Moncrieff calmly slotted home.
Reckless kept on fighting hard with Ann Margret Laurenson having a few shots at goal but unable to beat Finnie. Kate Moncrieff completed the scoring with her second of the match.

Players of the match were Kate Moncrieff for New Revolution and Sarah Grogan for Reckless.

Deltmavine v Crusaders

Deltmavine had to forfeit the points as they could not field a team.

Reckless 3, Deltmavine 2

Deltmavine had two quick corners in the first 10 minutes but were unable to penetrate the Reckless defence.

A corner for Reckless scored by Georgia Laurenson provided the first goal of the match. Fast and furious play using the whole court followed, then Reckless scored from the top of the D thanks to Michael Johnson.

Deltmavine had a quick break in the second half and scored through Alistair Williamson. Reckless quickly picked up the pace and scored through a short corner from Johnson again. Against the run of play Deltmavine scored again through Alistair Williamson.

A fast break from Reckless called for Deltmavine’s keeper to make a few diving saves. Relentless end-to-end play resulted in no more goals and a friendly enjoyable game with Reckless coming out on top by one goal.

Players of the match were goalkeeper Toni Sidgwick for Deltmavine and Sarah Grogan for Reckelss.

Crusaders 0, New Revolution 8

New Revolution took the pass back against newly-formed Crusaders and started the game at a fast pace. Some excellent linking play by Kristan Robertson and Peter Sharp made it difficult for Crusaders to get into the match. Gayle Johnson and Andrew Inkster did well at the back, and Debi Kane in goals made some excellent saves throughout the match.

Crusaders played determinedly throughout but New Revolution proved too strong an opposition. Player of the match for Crusaders was Rona Simpson, while for New Revolution Stacey Laurenson took the honours.
