Sixteen schools remain shut in north and west of the isles

Sixteen schools remained closed on Thursday due to the continuing snowy weather, while the remainder opened for the new term. Those that did not open were: Aith Junior High, Sandness Primary, Happyhansel Primary, Skeld Primary, Whiteness Primary, North Roe Primary, Urafirth Primary, Ollaberry Primary, Brae High, Olnafirth Primary, Mossbank Primary, Mid Yell Junior High, Hamnavoe Primary, Uyeasound Primary, Tingwall Primary and Nesting Primary.

The Eric Gray Resource Centre was assessing transport for individuals who normally attend.
