Police warn drivers about slippery road surfaces

Police in Lerwick are warning motorists to look out for slippery road surfaces, despite the snowy conditions having long since disappeared.

Ice is still forming on a number of routes even with temperatures rising to between four and five degrees C.

The fear is drivers could get caught out if they see the high temperatures and think they can make a bit of progress.

A spokesman for Northern Constabulary said a number or people had phoned in with concerns and officers on patrol had also noticed some slippy surfaces. He said the Brig o’ Fitch bend was particularly bad.
