Draw for football’s annual Parish Cup made

The draw for this year’s Parish Cup football competition has been made and again some interesting fixtures have been thrown up.

The cup competition starts next month with the final scheduled to be played on Saturday 14th August.

Preliminary round: Yell v Westside; Southend v Whitedale; Cunningsburgh v Whalsay.

Quarter-finals: Unst v Yell/Westside; Cunningsburgh/Whalsay v Delting; Southend/Whitedale v Sandwick; Bressay v Burra.

Semi-finals: Unst/Yell/Westside v Cunningsburgh/Whalsay/Delting; Bressay/Burra v Southend/Whitedale/Sandwick.

A spokesman said the Parish Cup Association was confident the passion and support for this season’s competition would be as strong as ever. Team representatives are reminded to get their 2010 registered players list to Ian Simpson by 30th April.

A one-day under-21 tournament will be held in Yell with dates and times to be confirmed. This is following the success of the one-day tournament last year which was won by the home team, Unst.

A four-a-side tournament will be held in Sandwick on Saturday 18th September at the end of the outdoor season. More details will be confirmed nearer the time.
