Shetland fencers selected for Scotland

Three Shetland fencers were selected for the Scotland B team at the weekend, which defeated Northern Ireland, the RAF and a side selected by the president of Scottish Fencing.

Christopher Rocks took part in the épée event with his brother Stephen fencing in the sabre discipline. Unfortunately the third member selected, Sophie Drosso in the épée, was unable to attend due to exams.

Chris also fenced in the individual competition and won the event to complete a very successful weekend. He had been training hard for the competition with his coach Andy Alderman in the Vidlin Hall.

Unfortunately Stephen was unable to compete in the individual competition as he was performing the role of godfather at the christening of his nephew.
