Man in hospital after firefighters put out fire at house in Lerwick

The Lerwick fire crew was called to a fire in the kitchen of a house at Goodlad Crescent, Lerwick, on Sunday morning.

The crew received the call at around 7.24am, and used one hose reel jet and two sets of breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire, which was under control by 7.44am.

The damage was contained to the kitchen, although there was smoke damage to the rest of the house. One man was outside the house by the time the crew arrived but was taken to hospital by ambulance. Hospital staff confirmed he was in a stable condition.
