We’re being fleeced

Schools closing, grass-cutting services for the elderly being axed, music tuition fees being applied and knitting classes being cut, cutbacks in every shape and form for Shetland except one.

Alistair Buchan’s wages as of yet are still undisclosed but believed to be more than Dave Clark’s £97,000 per annum. If it were an £10,000 increase this would pay the fees for 70 children in one year.

I note Floella Benjamin, she of Playschool fame, has been elected to the House of Lords. An unelected body at a rate of £300 per day or £1,500 per week or £75,000 per year. We the public are being fleeced left right and centre.

It will be interesting to note if Mr Buchan accepts this rise, but my question is why?
