Man admits assaulting and permanently injuring woman

A man who carried out an assault on a woman to her severe injury and permanent impairment was kept in prison on remand and had sentence deferred for reports at Lerwick Sheriff Court today.

George Michael Watt, 45, of Murrayston, Lerwick, appeared from custody and pleaded guilty to the offences, which occurred in Murrayston on 19th May.

He admitted assaulting the woman by grabbing her by the hair and dragging her out of bed onto the floor where he repeatedly punched and repeatedly kicked her on the head, all to her permanent injury and impairment.

Sentence was deferred until 28th July.
