Firefighters and police called out after gas hose catches fire at Gremista Inustrial Estate

Firefighters and police were called out this morning after receiving reports that a gas hose had been set alight at the Gremista Industrial Estate north of Lerwick.

They were on the scene at 9.05am and set up a 200-metre exclusion zone around the area while the fire was extinguished.

Police said there had been minimal disruption to neighbouring properties but the exclusion zone would stay in place while the “cooling down processes” were under way and the area was made safe. Officers would remain at the scene until that happened.
