Coastguard helicopter sent to aid of oil rig worker

Shetland coastguard was involved in a medivac of a man from the Transocean John Shaw oil rig, approximately 127 miles north east of Sumburgh on Friday morning.

They received a call at 9.10am to assist in transferring the man, who is said to be suffering severe back pain, to hospital.

Rescue helicopter 102 transferred the man to the Clickimin playing fields where a waiting ambulance was due to take the man to the Gilbert Bain hospital shortly after midday.
