Community council elections – a reminder

The returning officer for community council elections in Shetland is reminding electors that nominations for vacancies to community council wards throughout the isles close at 4pm on Tuesday.

Following the main elections in November, 49 vacancies remained, and the by-election process started on 14th January. Thirty-eight vacancies remained at noon on Monday, as follows: Brae 1; Bressay 3; Burra 2; Cunningsburgh 2; Exnaboe 1; Gluss 1; Haroldswick 1; Lerwick 6; Mid Yell 3; Mossbank 2; Nesting 2; Quarff 2; Quendale 1; Sandwick 3; Scalloway 3; Unst 2; Uyeasound 1; Voe 2.

Nomination forms can be obtained from the relevant community council clerk. Contact details are on the SIC website at shetland.gov.uk or by contacting the returning officer’s staff on Lerwick 744554 or by email to returning.officer@shetland.gov.uk. Forms must be completed and returned by 4pm on Tuesday 1st February.
