Teenager lashed out at policeman and assaulted man

A teenager who lunged at a policeman and assaulted another man in one night will have to wait until next month to learn of his sentence.

Aidan McAlister, 18, of Grodians in Lerwick, assaulted the police constable at Grodians on 22nd December, striking him on the chest, shouting, swearing and making threats.

On the same night he assaulted a man at Victoria Pier, pushing him repeatedly on the body and punching him on the head.

He also acted in a threatening way, repeatedly striking a car.

At Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday sentence was deferred until 20th April, when McAlister is due to appear in relation to a separate case.

Sheriff Graeme Napier called for social inquiry and community service reports to be compiled.

He also asked for a restriction of liberty order assessment.
