Fair Isle to get ‘long-overdue’ fire station

Fair Isle is to get a new fire station. The £140,000 contract has been awarded to local firm Ness Engineering with a view to the work being carried out over the winter. The funding has been agreed by Highlands and Islands Fire Board.

South Mainland councillor Allison Duncan, who also sits on the fire board, welcomed the news. “I’m absolutely delighted for the people of Fair Isle,” he said. “They deserve a new station – it’s long overdue.”
