Liverpool pair jailed for heroin smuggling

Two brothers from Liverpool were jailed on Monday for smuggling heroin through the post to Shetland.

Paul Smith, 27, was sentenced to five years and two months and Anthony Smith, 30, was jailed for five years and seven months when they appeared at the High Court in Aberdeen.

Paul Smith sent two consignments of heroin with a maximum street value of £19,770 in October 2010 and February 2011 to Lerwick.
Anthony Smith sent three ounces of heroin with a maximum street value of £7,890 between January and February 2011 to the isles.

Judge Lord Uist said: “This is yet another case involving the notorious chain of heroin supply from Liverpool to this part of Scotland.
“This court has on many occasions warned of the consequences for heroin dealers when brought to justice.”
