Thanks for support (Allen Fraser)

A big thank you to all those who packed into Tingwall Hall on Tuesday night and for the many notes of support from those folk that couldn’t make it on the night.

A big thank you too, to all those new members who joined Sustainable Shetland after the meeting.

Thanks also for the unanimous support for the motion to continue the fight against Viking Energy’s heinous proposals and the SNP’s political decision to grant planning permission.

We take heart from the fact that planning permission doesn’t mean that the Viking windfarm will happen if the affected communities stand together and fight back.

On Monday, Viking Energy will ask for a further £6.3 million of your money from Shetland Charitable Trust in a desperate and cynical “dash for cash” before the May elections. You can all take the next step in the fight by contacting all Trustees of Shetland Charitable Trust and let them know how you feel about this.

Trustees have not asked Viking Energy for a detailed breakdown of how the £3.42 million of trust money granted so far has been spent – it is high time that they did.

A very good meeting Allan, there was a good atmosphere, excellent points were raised, with a great feeling of community and common agreement.

A pity that councillors and trustees don’t take a leaf out of Sustainable Shetland’s book and listen to what the public are saying.

We do not need the giant wind farm.
